About Toyo Ramen
At Toyo Ramen & Japanese Street Food, our mission is simple: serve real Hakata-style ramen.
Hakata ramen comes from Fukuoka, Japan, and is famous for its rich tonkotsu pork bone broth, thin noodles, and deep umami flavor created through hours of slow cooking. At Toyo, we stay true to that tradition.
Our tonkotsu broth is slowly simmered for over 12 hours, extracting the full depth of flavor from pork bones to create the creamy, rich soup that defines authentic Hakata ramen. Every bowl is carefully crafted — broth, noodles, tare, and toppings working together in perfect balance.
Toyo Ramen was created to bring a taste of Japanese street food culture to Ankeny, Iowa. In Japan, ramen shops are neighborhood gathering places — simple, welcoming spots where people come together over a hot bowl of noodles. We built Toyo with that same spirit.
Our menu stays focused and intentional — authentic Hakata-style ramen, Japanese street food favorites, and bold flavors made fresh every day. We believe great food doesn't need to be complicated — it just needs to be done right.
